| How
much carpeting will you need?
Even though Post Road Carpet will send professionals
to measure for the exact amount of carpeting you
will need, you may prefer to have an idea of what
is needed when you come to the showroom to select
your carpeting.
Quick Approximation:
1. Eyeball the area - lengthwise. Take a measurement
of the longest length, making sure that you are
measuring in a straight line. (15 ft.)
2. Eyeball the area - widthwise. Take a measurement
of the longest width, making sure that you are
measuring in a straight line. (11 ft.)
3. Multiply the longest width by the longest length
to get the area in square feet. (165 sq. ft.)
Numbers in parenthesis are
examples.
If the area contains closets or other occupied
areas (fireplaces, poles, support beams, fountains),
draw an outline of the area and bring it with
you when you speak with our professionals. Note
the entranceways and type of flooring in the adjoining
areas.
The actual amount of square feet needed may be
affected by the width of your area (room). Carpeting
is sold in widths of 12' and 15'. Not all carpeting
is available in 15' widths. If your room measures
10 feet wide, you will need to purchase 12', so
the total square footage required increases. This
excess is good for use as entranceway mats or
flooring for closets, or can be saved for future
repairs.
